Q. What types of files are these?

A. The templates are provided as Adobe® Illustrator® EPS files. They were created using Adobe Illustrator 7.0 for Windows.

Q. I can't open the files?

A. We have been able to work with the files using Adobe Illustrator, Quark XPress™, Adobe PageMaker® and Adobe Photoshop®. There may be other applications we have not tested that will work. Any application that can work with an EPS file should be able to work with the template files.

Q. How do I use these files?

A. Depending on the application, the template should be imported into the document as a separate layer. The design can then be created based on the template, and the template can be hidden or removed for output.

Q. Are these files for Windows or Mac?

A. They are EPS files, which are cross platform. The individual template files were created on a Windows PC, so if you are using a Mac we recommend you use the stuffed version. Those templates were converted for use on a Mac.

Q. Why do I need the specification document?

A. The specification document is very important. It contains additional information that you will need to complete your design properly. It also contains the actual dimensions, which are not on the templates.

Q. What application should I use to create my design?

A. We have seen successful designs based on the templates using Adobe Illustrator, Quark XPress, Adobe PageMaker and Adobe Photoshop. Please see our list of file requirements for electronic design for recommended applications.

Q. How do I know my design is complete and ready for printing?

A. Please see our preflight checklist to help you make sure your materials are ready for prepress & printing.
